Pro and Student reeds come in medium-hard and medium strengths. Ask me if you need guidance on choosing strength. This is very detailed information below that is useful mostly for the advanced student or professional.

Medium-Hard Strength: Slightly longer blade and thicker tip yields a very pitch stable and darker bassoon sound. Some players think of this as a good reed for playing flatter overall, has good low register response and good for 2nd bassoon playing. Plays and feels more like a German Reed style.

Medium Strength: Slightly shorter blade and slightly thinner tip and upper heart area than medium-hard strength. Yields a more singing, lighter and brighter sound quality (not at all edgy). Very responsive, best for players needing to blend with the middle frequencies of the orchestra and playing chamber music or solo recitals.
